Introduction to the Rosary
1. “The Rosary is a chain of love that strengthens Christian communion.” 2. “Everything that is asked through the Rosary will be given.” This is the promise made by our Blessed Mother to St. Dominic. 3. The Rosary is the jewel of the Christian faith. It is an adornment for our families and communities. Above all, let us joyfully commemorate those mysteries. 4. In the Rosary, we commemorate the fundamental mysteries of our Christian faith, namely, that God saved humanity through the incarnation, suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came into the world as the Son of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 5. Like the lives of Christ and Mary, our lives are full of joys and sorrows. In the Rosary, we ask Mary to pray to her divine Son even at the hour of our death, so that we too may rise with the risen Christ, who overcame death. 6. Listen to the words of Saint Don Bosco, a perfect Marian devotee. “Let no one forget to recite the Rosary daily. How can we forget our Holy Mother, who loves us so much and fills us with blessings?” 7. The fundamental principle of the Rosary is to relive and present the main events of the life of our Lord, united to the Blessed Mother, who was most closely associated with him in his life and mission. We, united to the Blessed Virgin, see them through her eyes. Thus, throughout the centuries, the Church has proclaimed this fundamental principle of Christian life: “Through Mary to Christ.” 8. The Rosary is a miracle for humanity. It is a wonderful gift of the Virgin Mary. This prayer is the synthesis of our faith, the support of our hope, and the expression of God’s love. The Rosary is a powerful weapon to repel Satan, overcome temptations, and win the heart of Jesus.
9. The Rosary is the most traditional of contemplative prayers that lead to Christ. 10. Mary, full of goodness, is a constant praise to Christ, who has successfully completed the work of salvation for humanity. 11. All the mysteries of the Rosary have been approved with the seal of the Holy Church. 12. The Rosary is both meditation and prayer. 13. In the Rosary, we pray in union with Mary, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. She intercedes for us with the Father, who filled Mary with divine grace even before her Son was conceived in her womb. 14. The Queen of the Holy Rosary appeared at Fatima and revealed the mysteries hidden in the Rosary to the shepherd children. This is so that we may be instruments for establishing peace in the world and for the conversion of sinners.

Complete Rosary (203 beads) The form of the complete meditative rosary

Blessed are those who can recite the complete rosary with its 20 mysteries and 200 Hail Marys - from Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Rosarium Virginis Mariae (RVM). The full form of the rosary The desire to meditate on the entire history of salvation together while praying the rosary arose in me in 1998 when I was praying with the intercessory prayer group at the Potta Meditation Centre. That time, I saw that they were completing the prayer by reciting all twenty mysteries of the rosary, taking two and a half hours. However, such a long method is not very practical for family prayers or other groups. Therefore, efforts were made to find an alternative system for this. It was while such an idea was in my mind that I happened to read a book in which Jesus talks to the mystic Anne Catherine Emmerich. Then I read books by many mystics, including John of the Cross and Mother Teresa of Avila. In one of those books, I noticed that Jesus says the following:
“I have not given permission to anyone to recite (meditate on) my salvation history in pieces.” So, how did this system that exists today enter our midst? It is a very difficult question to find the answer. Even in the last century, Kerala Catholics did not have books for prayers in Malayalam. Since they knew Tamil, Malayalis used Tamil books at that time. After the death of Father Chavara on January 3, 1871, his successor, Father Porukkara Kuriakose Elisevous, published the first book for daily devotion in Malayalam in 1885. The Tamil books were translated by Father himself and form a large part of our prayers. Therefore, it is not easy to find a situation where we have to cut and paste the history of salvation and pray. But in this era, there is a trend that the people of God are advancing much more in prayer and devotional works. Therefore, we can accept the call of the Holy Father through the apostolic letter R.V.M. issued on October 16, 2002, with open arms. Let us pray that this method may be practised first in our Kerala Catholic Church and then by all those who pray the Rosary throughout the world. If a person of goodwill comes forward to say Amen to His will, considering this special need of God’s people, then Jesus Himself will guide all the rest from behind. Because “What is impossible with men is possible with God” (Luke 18:27). The Holy Apostle Paul, in his first letter to the church at Corinth, chapter 2, verse 16, says: “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we know the mind of Christ.” Pope John Paul II knew the mind of the Lord, and then R. Through the V.M. (from the circular letter Rosarium Virginis Mariee.) Having done the necessary things to fulfil His will, the holy soul of the saint ascended into the presence of God.

Five Forms / Methods of the Rosary

First Method

To be used in an emergency:

1. Ps. 32:5 I confessed my sin to you; I did not cover my iniuity; said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave my sin. 2. Luke 23:43 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

The Creed

(We confess 26 articles of faith, both small and large)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in his only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. His Son was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day, he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there, he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe in the holy Catholic Church, in the communion of saints, in the forgiveness of sins, in the resurrection of the body, and in life everlasting. Amen.

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your tender mercy! According to your loving-kindness, blot out my transgressions! Wash away my iniquity! Cleanse me from my sin! I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned; in your sight have I done evil; therefore, you are righteous in your judgments, and your word is perfect. I was conceived in sin; I was sinful from the time I was conceived in my mother’s womb. You desire an upright heart; therefore, put wisdom within me. Sanctify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me joyful, and let my bones, which you have broken, rejoice. Hide your face from my sins; blot out my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; put a new spirit within me, a steadfast one; do not cast me away from your presence. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me! Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation! Uphold me with a willing heart. Then will I teach transgressors thy way; and sinners shall return unto thee. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; and I will show forth thy salvation with a loud voice. Open my lips, O Lord, and my tongue shall declare thy praise. For thou hast no pleasure in sacrifices; thou wilt not be pleased with burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Be pleased, and do good to Zion! Build up the walls of Jerusalem! Then shalt thou be pleased with sacrifices, with burnt offerings, and with whole burnt offerings; then shall bullocks be offered upon thine altar.

Complete Rosary 20 Mysteries - Recite together.

Holy Virgin Mary, the angel Gabriel announced to you by God’s command that the Word of God would become flesh in your womb. When she heard that her aunt Elisha was pregnant, she went to visit that holy woman and ministered to her for three months. When the time came for her to give birth to the Son of God, who was born in her womb, she gave birth at midnight in the city of Bethlehem and laid him in a manger. When the day of her purification came, she brought Jesus to the temple and presented him to God and gave him to Simeon, the great man. When the Divine Son was twelve years old, he was searched for three days, without finding him, and on the third day, he was found in the temple debating with the scribes and given wise answers, (not fighting). When Jesus was baptised in the Jordan River to fulfil the law, the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove, and testified to him by the Father that Jesus was the Son of God. He performed his first miracle at the wedding feast in Cana to reveal his glory through the intercession of his mother, the Holy Virgin Mary. He preached the gospel of repentance, announcing the arrival of the Kingdom of God, and entrusted his power to forgive sins to the Holy Church to save humanity.
When he was transfigured on Mount Tabor to reveal his divinity, God the Father said, “Listen to me,” and Jesus prepared his disciples to be witnesses of his suffering, death, and resurrection. To share the love that will last until the end of the world with God’s people, he changed bread and wine into his body and blood and instituted the Holy Eucharist. While Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane on the other side of the Kidron Valley, he sweated blood. He was tied to a stone pillar at Pilate’s palace and whipped. He put a crown of thorns on the head of the Holy Son and they mocked him as a king. After being sentenced to death, he was made to carry a heavy cross on his back so that he would have more humiliation and suffering. When he went to Mount Gagulta, he was stripped of his holy clothes and crucified on the cross in front of the Holy Mother of God, who was immersed in a sea of suffering. On the third day after Jesus suffered and died, on the fortieth day after His triumphant resurrection, in wondrous glory and triumph, He ascended into heaven while the Mother of God and His disciples were watching; and ten days later, on the day of Pentecost, when He ascended to the right hand of God the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire upon the Virgin Mary and the Apostles who were meditating in the vineyard of Zion; and after a while, when the Virgin Mary was taken up from this world by the angels to heaven, immediately after She was crowned Queen of heaven and earth by Her Divine Son, let us now meditate on the 20 saving mysteries.

Third method

For those who need to finish the Rosary in a short time

After starting the Rosary in the usual way and reciting all the mysteries, 1 Our father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (Repeat 5 times). (Then finish the prayer as usual). The Five Mysteries of Hope

A fifth mystery is added here for those who have not yet been satisfied with the entire history of salvation in four stages. This method has now become popular in prayer communities and among monks. For special attention The fifth mystery is only for those who are compelled to continue this method. Hope does not disappoint us. Because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. From his fullness, we have all received grace upon grace. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit gave them. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide us into the fullness of truth, and I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as we are one. 1 Our Father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (Complete the rest as you would the regular Rosary)
Fifth Method

The complete form of the Rosary for those who pray the Rosary without any time constraints, recognising the need to pray. Joyful Mysteries (Five Secrets)

O Holy Virgin Mary, the angel Gabriel announced to you by God’s command that the Word of God would become man in your womb. (When she heard that her aunt Elisha, was pregnant, she went to visit that holy woman and ministered to her for three months.) When the time came for her to give birth to the Son of God, who was born in her womb, she gave birth to him in the city of Bethlehem and laid him in a manger. When the day of her purification came, she took Jesus to the temple and presented him to God and handed him over to the great man named Simeon. When the Divine Son was twelve years old, they searched for him for three days without finding him, and on the third day, he was found in the temple discussing with the scribes.

Meditation

God speaks to me through the events of daily life, through individuals. The more benefits we receive, the more we are obligated to serve others. For Mary, the mother of God, it was a call to love others. The Blessed Virgin, who submitted to God so that man could receive the highest gift of God through the Holy Birth, gave Jesus to the world. Mary had a manger to give to all who are rich. Love does not count the cost of sacrifice. Mary’s sacrifice made us rich. Jesus, the true God, submits to Jewish customs in order to teach me humility and obedience. Jesus makes it clear that his most important duty is to obey the Father. Am I submitting to God’s will, like Mary? Do I have the humility to say, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word?” How much effort do I put forth as a Christian to serve others? Am I willing to make sacrifices for my brother? Does my faith in God’s providence give me the courage to face difficult situations?
Only by denying myself, taking up my cross, and following Jesus can I share in Jesus’ love and in Jesus’ kingdom. Do I distinguish between human considerations and God’s will?

Prayer

Mother, teach me to know the will of God with all my heart and to submit to it with humility. Grant me the strength to see the needs of others and help them, and to endure the trials and tribulations of life with equanimity, trusting completely in God’s providence. Grant me the grace to grow in a deeper relationship with God and to live faithfully in keeping with God’s laws. Amen. 1 Our Father 50 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (1 Our Father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity..) 1. Oh! My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in of need your help. Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us. 2. Christ, Son of the Father, send your Spirit now to earth. May the Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts of all people. May they be protected from moral decay, disasters, war, and demonic torments. May the Lord of all peoples be our advocate. Amen. 3. Holy Mother of God, who crushed the head of the infernal serpent, bring us, our families, our community, the Holy Church, and all the infernal forces that desire the destruction of humanity and creation under your feet and crush them. Amen. 4. Jesus, my only love, I pray for those who love you but who do not know how to love you. May they be purified and healed, so that they may be freed from all evil. Amen. 5. Saint Michael, the Archangel, be our help and support in times of struggle. Protect us from the wickedness and snares of the devil. We humbly pray that God will rebuke him. O Commander of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast Satan and all the evil spirits who roam about to destroy souls into hellfire. Amen

The Mysteries of Light (Five Secrets)

When Jesus was baptised in the Jordan River in fulfilment of the law, the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove, and testified to him by the Father that Jesus was the Son of God. He performed his first miracle at the wedding feast in Cana, through the intercession of his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, to reveal his glory. He preached the gospel of repentance, announcing the coming of the Kingdom of God, and entrusted his power of forgiveness to the Holy Church, thus saving humanity. In order to reveal the divinity, when He was transfigured on Mount Tabor, God the Father said, “Listen to Him,” and prepared Christ’s disciples to be witnesses of His suffering, death, and resurrection. Let us now meditate on the five divine mysteries of light, in which He transformed bread and wine into His body and blood and instituted the Holy Eucharist to share with God’s people the love that endures until the end of the world.

Meditation

How great is the humility of Jesus, who, despite being the Son of God, receives baptism from John. The first miracle that Jesus performed, Mother, was through your intercession. The Kingdom of God was given to us by your Son as a call and a gift. How blessed are the disciples who saw the divine spirit of Jesus! Dear Mother, we too long to see the face of Jesus. No amount of gratitude can suffice for the great love with which Jesus blessed us by giving himself to us in the form of bread and wine as a sign of his love. Holy Mother, help us to appreciate the sacraments we have received and to live in a way that is worthy of our dignity. We ask for your help in our times of need. Intercede for us before God and help us to walk the path of righteousness and to love others positively, holding fast to the values of the Kingdom of God, such as truth, justice, love, and brotherhood, according to the will of Jesus. Help us to see the face of Jesus in the suffering, the grieving, the hungry, the children, the elderly, and the sick. Our sacrifice will only be complete when we offer our bodies and blood as a sacrifice of love and mercy on the altar of life.

Prayer

Holy Mother, obtain for us from your Son the blessing to cultivate devotion to the Divine Mercy in us. Prayer, Holy Mother, help us not to lose the grace of God that we received through Baptism, but to grow into children pleasing to your Son, and to live according to the Word of God, gathering the Word of God in our hearts. Pray that we may be led by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that our lives may be filled with divine thoughts and ideas, and that you may teach us to give Jesus to others through our lives, as you gave Jesus to the world. Amen. 1 Our Father. 50 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (1 Our Father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. ) My Jesus, ............ Christ the Lord, Son of the Father ............ Who crushed the head of the infernal serpent......... My Jesus, my only love, ............ Saint Michael the Archangel, ............

The Sorrowful Mysteries (Five Sorrowful Mysteries)

Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the other side of the Kidron Valley, and was sweating blood. He was tied to a stone pillar in Pilate’s palace and whipped. He placed thorns on the head of the Holy Son and made him the king of mockery. After being condemned to death, he was made to carry a heavy cross on his back in order to cause him more humiliation and anguish. When he went to Mount Gagulta, he was stripped of his clothes and nailed to the cross in front of the Holy Mother of God, who was immersed in the ocean of anguish. Let us now meditate on these five sorrowful divine mysteries.

Meditation

Jesus clarified the need for prayer. Jesus sees all the sins of man. Realising how difficult it is to solve them, Jesus prays to the Father. Father, let this cup pass from me; but not my will, but yours, be done.
Even though Pilate knows that Jesus is not guilty, he punishes Jesus in order to please the Jews. When impure thoughts trouble me, when I am led into impure thoughts, do I remember my Jesus, who was thorny? Jesus gladly carries the heavy cross made of my sins for me to save me. He said, “Greater love has no one than to lay down one’s life for a friend.” Even though my sin offended the Father, that good Father sacrificed His Son for me. When I feel that the crises of life are crushing me, do I seek refuge in God through prayer? Or do I murmur against Him in despair? Let us think for a moment about the thousands who, in imitation of Jesus, suffer physical pain for the truth. Help me to control my thoughts for Jesus’ sake and to forgive those who offend me. Am I able to become another disciple by seeing Jesus in my brother? Do I find strength and hope in the words of the Saviour, “He who loses his life for me will find it forever?” Do I show true love to others not only with my words but also with my actions?

Prayer

Holy Mother, help me to abandon sin and sinful practices, to sincerely repent and make amends for the sins I have committed. Teach me to imitate your divine Son in thought and perfect love, by controlling my senses and leading a holy life. Allow me to follow your divine Son, patiently carrying the cross that is my daily life. Enable me to forgive those who offend me and to love them sincerely. Amen. 1 Our Father. 50 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (1 Our Father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. ) Oh! My Jesus, ............ Christ the Lord, Son of the Father ............ Who crushed the head of the infernal serpent......... My only love, Jesus, ............ Saint Michael the Archangel,............

Glorious Mysteries (Five Secrets)

On the fortieth day after Jesus suffered and died, and rose again with triumphant joy on the third day, with wondrous glory and triumph, He ascended into heaven in the sight of the Mother of God and His disciples; and He sat at the right hand of God the Father; and ten days later, on the day of Pentecost, He sent the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues upon the Virgin Mary and the Apostles, who were meditating in the vineyard of Zion. Let us now meditate on the five divine mysteries of the glory of the Virgin Mary, who, after some time had passed, was taken up from this world by the angels into heaven, and crowned by her divine Son as Queen of heaven and earth.

Meditation

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he was dead, yet shall he live.” The Messiah, having completed the work given to him by the Father, is going to intercede for us with his Father. The Messiah has freed us from sin and made us children of God. If I allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in me constantly, the same change will happen in me that happened when the Spirit descended on the timid, weak, and fearful apostles. The Blessed Virgin Mary was taken up to heaven with her soul and body. The resurrection of the Messiah is what gives us true refuge and hope in our sufferings in this world. Our home is not here. We, the soul, will be taken up with our body to the next world. Let us live and work with this thought in mind. Do I constantly seek the help of this Mother to keep my soul and body pure? I have never abandoned anyone who has sought her help. How blessed and how great I am. My mother is the Queen of angels and men. When I have my mother, I need not fear to overcome this world filled with sin and darkness. If I go forward in holiness and virtue, holding on tightly to the hands of this Queen, she will surely bring me to her divine Son.

Prayer

Holy Mother, awaken in us faith in eternal life and open the way to eternal life for unbelievers and bad examples, developing faith and refuge in them,
Help us to always submit to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Pray for us to your Son and be near us at the hour of our death to lead us to heaven. Help us to love you more and to lead others to you. Amen. 1 Our Father. 50 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. (1 Our Father. 10 Hail Mary. 1 Holy Trinity. ) Oh! My Jesus, ............ Christ the Lord, Son of the Father ............ Who crushed the head of the infernal serpent......... My only love, ............ Saint Michael the Archangel, ............ Rosary dedication Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Gabriel, Saint Raphael, Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint John, Saint Thomas, our father, we pray you to join these two hundred and three rosaries we have recited with your praises and offer them as a great gift at the feet of the Holy Mother of God.

Pray for us, Holy Mother of God, that we may be worthy of the promises of Jesus Christ.

Let us pray,

O Lord, that through the intercession of the ever-Virgin Mary, who looks down upon this family, which we adore with all our hearts, we may be delivered from all the snares of our enemies. Grant us all these petitions through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Holy Queen

Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, our refuge, our peace. We, the rejected children of Eve, cry out to you. From this valley of tears, we sigh and weep. Therefore, our intercessor, turn your merciful eyes upon us. After our exile, show us Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb. Virgin Mary, full of mercy, affection, and sweetness. Amen.

Let us pray

Almighty and eternal God, from the beginning, you determined that the soul and body of the blessed Mary should be a worthy dwelling place for your divine Son. Grant us, who rejoice in the memory of that divine Mother, that by her blessed prayers we may be saved from all dangers in this world and from eternal death. Grant us these prayers through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Most merciful Mother

O most merciful Mother, remember that you have never heard in the world that you have abandoned any one of those who have fled to your refuge and sought your help and intercession. O Virgin, Queen of Virgins, O merciful Mother, I come to you with courage in this faith. Sighing and shedding tears, I, a sinner, stand before you, waiting for your great mercy. O Mother of the Incarnate Word, do not forsake my petition but graciously hear it. Amen.

Prayer to St.Joseph (Husband of Mary)

O blessed Joseph, after having fled to you in our troubles and having implored the help of your holy spouse, we now implore your intercession with all our hearts. We humbly pray to you, by the divine love which united you to the Immaculate Virgin, the Mother of God, and by the hereditary love with which you embraced the Son, to look with favour upon the inheritance which Jesus Christ acquired with his precious blood, and to help us in our needs by your power and glory. Most wise protector of the Holy Family, honour the chosen people of Jesus Christ. Most loving Father, preserve us from all the stains of error and corruption. Our most powerful Protector, graciously help us from heaven in our battle against the powers of darkness. As you once saved Jesus from mortal danger, so now protect the holy Church of God from the snares of the enemy and from all dangers. Protect us all at all times by your intercession, so that, following your example, we may be strengthened by your help to live a virtuous life and, having died a good death, may attain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen
